Please join us in welcoming Mara Harris as the newest member of the Rochester School District Board of Directors, representing District 5!
Mara brings a strong background in working with youth and families, with nearly a decade of experience at the Boys & Girls Club of Thurston County. She currently serves as the Director of Kaila's Kids, a countywide behavioral intervention and social-emotional learning program serving more than 2,000 youth. She also recently earned her Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Health Science, with an emphasis in Childhood and Adolescent Disorders.
Mara has a longtime connection to the Rochester community and an understanding of the importance of supporting our students, families, and schools. She also has a special connection to this position as the daughter of former District 5 Board Director Heather Harris.
We are excited to welcome Mara to the board and look forward to working with her as she steps into this role!
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the two applicants who took the time to participate in the interview process and expressed a willingness to serve our district. We are grateful for their interest, their commitment to our community, and their willingness to step forward to fill the District 5 vacancy for the remainder of the current term.

Our Warrior Cheerleaders have been busy this fall season, and what a season it has been!
From the Swede Day Parade in July and performances at the Speedway to Cheer Camp, UW Spirit Day, hosting Homecoming, Fright Fest, and Youth Night, these girls have made the most of every opportunity. Along the way, they have grown as a team, learned so much, and made memories that will last a lifetime!
One of the highlights was getting to perform on the UW field during halftime at UW Spirit Day! The girls also had the opportunity to join a couple of TCYFL Youth Cheer practices, where they taught the younger cheerleaders the Youth Night dance. Seeing the big girls and little Warriors perform together a few weeks ago was such a special moment!
We are proud of the time, energy, and spirit these girls have brought to the season. It has been a great fall, and we can't wait to see what comes next!
Now let's keep cheering on our Warriors as football makes its postseason run!

Warrior Athletics Update! It’s been a great week for our Warriors! Here’s what’s happening with volleyball, soccer, and swim as our athletes head into postseason competition.
🏐 Volleyball: The Lady Warriors picked up a strong win over Elma in three sets and have earned a district play-in game against Columbia High School in White Salmon. They’ll take the court today at 5:00 p.m. Good luck, ladies!
⚽ Girls Soccer: Rochester took down Elma 4-1 to secure another district berth! The Lady Warriors will face the Kalama Chinooks today at 6:00 p.m. at Kalama High School as they kick off district play. Best of luck to the team!
🏊 Swim: Katelyn Sheirbeck has qualified for districts in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Ava Clouse has qualified in both the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke. Both swimmers will represent RHS at districts tomorrow.

A little Husky soccer fun! Our girls’ soccer team enjoyed a trip to the University of Washington women’s soccer game this weekend! It was a great team-building experience and a fun opportunity for our Warriors to spend time together off the field.

Hispanic Heritage Month at RPS!
Our Warriors had so much fun celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at our themed recess! Students worked together to create colorful papel picado that will soon be hanging in our school. They also danced to music in Spanish and practiced counting in Spanish!

What a day yesterday for Rochester Golf! With a new postseason format and little time to prepare, our Warriors stepped up in a big way! We expected 2–3 golfers to advance, but FIVE Warriors punched their tickets to the next round! Way to go!
👏 Congratulations to Boden Grimm, Wesley Dahl, Clayton Knutson, Darin Ware, and Ryder Radasa on advancing to the District Tournament!
💙 A special shoutout to seniors Jacob Baird and Deuce Anderson, who played their final match in a Rochester uniform. Thank you for your dedication to the program!

School Board Vacancy – Director District 5
The Rochester School District is seeking a qualified community member to fill a vacancy on the Rochester School Board representing Director District 5.
Are you a U.S. citizen, a qualified voter, and a resident of Director District 5? If so, you may be eligible to apply.
Interested candidates will be asked to provide:
• A brief biographical sketch
• A statement explaining your interest in serving on the School Board
