Temperance and Good Citizenship Day – January 16

January 16 is recognized in Washington State as Temperance and Good Citizenship Day, a time to reflect on the responsibilities we share as members of a democratic society.

One of the most meaningful ways to practice good citizenship is by registering to vote and participating in elections. Voting gives individuals a voice in decisions that shape our schools, communities, and state, and it is a key part of civic engagement.

We encourage eligible students, staff, families, and community members to take a moment to check their voter registration status or register to vote.

Voter registration information for Washington State can be found here:

Good citizenship is not only something we teach in our schools—it’s something we model and practice together.
