Mr. Rotter was the best math teachers I've ever had. He always had a way of making learning fun and teaching in a way so we could understand. Not only that but he was also a great teacher to talk to about anything going on in life. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Mr. Rotter was the best math teacher I ever had. I'll miss him greatly and will never forget him.

There comes a point in the life of almost every teenager when the advice of their parents loses its merit.  As parents we pray there’s another adult, someone with strong morals, who will stand in the gap for us.  For our son and a countless number of RHS students, that person was Justin Rotter.  Justin and our son shared a love for the outdoors and the gift of storytelling.  They spent countless hours discussing hunting and fishing, and I’m positive Mr. Rotter was his go to person when he was either frustrated or had good news to share.  Being an amazing math teacher, Mr. Rotter prepared him well for college mathematics, but more importantly he encouraged his dreams and wasn’t afraid to correct him when needed.

We can’t begin to express how grateful we are to him for the time he invested in our son and so many other students. Justin Rotter -Thank you for being such a blessing to our family!

My daughter had Mr. Rotter as her math teacher and loved the way he taught math.  This coming year, our son was going to be in Mr. Rotter's class and our daughter talked non-stop about how much fun he was going to have.  The news was devastating to hear, he will be greatly missed.  Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family during this time.

I first met Justin while we were playing 7th Grade football together. We were classmates through High School, and became best/lifelong friends. I have had the pleasure of spending countless days on hunting/fishing/camping trips with Justin.  We had adventures all over the state as well as Idaho. Out of all the memories we had together, not one of them was bad. Even during times of adversity and difficulty, we would still end up sharing a laugh.  Justin was a very positive person and his sense of humor was infectious. I would like to thank his parents for bringing him into this world and raising such a wonderful person. From the messages I have read on here and from the community outpouring, it is clear that my friend not only had a tremendous impact on my life (incl. other friends and family), but also on his students, colleagues, and the athletes he coached.  While his loss has left a big hole in my heart, I find solace in knowing that I got to spend most of my life making great memories with such a wonderful friend. I hope all of you can cherish the wisdom and memories he has shared with all of you, and find strength knowing all the positive things he imparted will live on with you. I pledge my love and support to his family and friends.

Justin was always kind, professional, intentional, and willing to serve.  His life was full of purpose, love for others, and respect by all. He will forever be remembered and deeply missed by so many. My heart goes out to his family at this time.

Justin was a wonderful person, a great co-worker and a friend. He was always willing to help; he cared very much for his students. He will be greatly missed.

Justin Rotter was such a positive influence on the Rochester community. His love of math helped many students be successful. His caring of individuals helped even more of his students. He gave so much of himself to his students and his athletes. He also was willing to jump in and help around the community. Rochester is better because of Justin. We will miss you.

Mr. Rotter was an exemplary educator, coach, mentor, colleague, friend and family man.  His truly deserving of the title - WARRIOR!
I remember Justin as an athlete in Rochester that was always scrappy and a go getter. He was one of those kids that you could count on to always give his best and was so fun to watch grow. He turned into such a great role model for our students and will be greatly missed.

My family is saddened by the loss of a great community member. Justin Rotter was a much-favored Math teacher at Rochester High School. All three of my children were fortunate enough to have had him as one of their High School Math teachers. He provided instruction and support to meet them where they were in their "math ability" and pushed them further down the road to success. He also wrote glowing letters recommendation for students that I would read as a member of the Rochester Scholarship Association, for applications from our RHS graduates. Mr. Rotter took the time to elaborate on each individual's successes and merits that would help them gain financial support towards their post-secondary dreams. He was a dedicated professional serving this Rochester community in many capacities. His passing is an enormous loss for Rochester.

Justin Rotter was one of the most patient and upbeat teachers I had in school. He wouldn't hesitate to set aside time to help someone struggling or encourage someone's passion. His classroom was always a place to go for help or just to talk to someone who would happily listen. He will be greatly missed.

Justin Rotter is one of the greatest people I have had the honor and privilege of knowing. I was fortunate to be both a student and colleague of Justin.  Justin’s passing has left a huge hole in our hearts and the Rochester community. Rochester will never be the same without this amazing man. May we carry on his legacy and always live life with the same kindness and integrity that Justin lived by. Once a Warrior, Always a Warrior.

Justin was terrific with all of our children.  Took extra time to help them when needed. I always found him approachable, professional, and very respectful.  He will surely be missed by our school and community.

Justin Rotter was a great man and a great teacher. Having had him as a teacher for several math classes though high school I can say with confidence that he was one of my favorite teachers. His passion for math and sports alike was inspiring for a teenage math nerd who also loved sports. His teaching lead me to further my study of mathematics in college and his ability to explain complicated concepts showed a great empathy for his students and their learning process.

I wish I had the opportunity to know him better after graduating. As an exceptional teacher, I imagine he would have been an exceptional friend. His loss will be felt throughout the community and by those who loved him most; his family, his friends, his colleagues, and his students. Mr. Rotter, you will be greatly missed.

I only had the pleasure of knowing Justin for a few short years. Justin always had a smile and was willing to help any staff or student anyway he could. I looked forward to his input at meetings and he was always the first to volunteer when something needed to be done. I wish I had more time to get to know him, he will be missed.

I had the pleasure of serving on several district level committees during my years of teaching in Rochester. Justin always came with information and a willingness to listen. It was obvious that he was a dedicated teacher, but most importantly, a good person.

He would help me with a problem till I got it down. And even on tests he would go and look and the problem you got wrong and help you threw them so you would get a high score. He was one of the best math teachers I ever had and he will be missed.

My daughter was heartbroken this weekend. She wrote this song and performed it and created the video in his memory. https://youtu.be/50LvjU6FHw0
I remember Justin in High School. Always funny, always helpful and always kind and considerate. I always knew he would go on and do great things. My oldest son was very fortunate to have Mr. Rotter for two  years of Math and I can say without a shadow of a doubt, he is better for doing so. Justin has left a lasting impression on us all and we will all forever be grateful we had the opportunity to have Justin Rotter in our lives. We will never forget you Justin and will do our best to keep your memory alive.
An amazing man and teacher. Always ready to laugh.
I remember I was really struggling my freshman year, and he let me retake a quiz I did poorly on because I missed school. It really impacted me and it helped me get where I am here today, graduated despite struggles and now going to WSU. We will miss you.

Two of my children had the privilege of having Mr Rotter as a teacher. Seems like every day there was a story about his class. They both loved him dearly and I know he made a lifelong impact on them. He will be greatly missed!
Words cannot properly articulate the far reaching impact Justin has had on so many.  Those of us who had the great privilege and opportunity to know and spend time with him are among the most fortunate.  We are all better people because of him!  His dedication to his wife, children, family, friends and students was beyond commendable as he was always there to assist without question.  Justin’s spirit and influence will be felt forever and he will be greatly missed!

Mr. Rotter was a great teacher! I remembered him making fun because I wore a Oregon Ducks Sweatshirt to his class, that he said the only ducks he likes are the ones he hunts. He would give me pointers on softball and you could tell he had the love for the game of baseball. Prayers to his family, friends, co-workers and RHS community.
