The Rochester School District is committed to providing a safe environment for students, staff, families and visitors. Our district’s administrators coordinate our Emergency Response Plan, working closely with local, county and state emergency responders and public health officials to ensure we are well prepared!
Each school also conducts multiple emergency drills throughout the year including, fire, earthquake and lockdown drills. This flyer provides important information to help guide you through our emergency process.

WHAT TO DO TO PREPARE
· Update your CONTACT INFORMATION with your school, keep it current and check it frequently.
· Adjust your setting in SCHOOL MESSENGER so you get the call/text/email where you want it. http://go.schoolmessenger.com or download the app.
· TALK TO YOUR CHILD about safety - ask them how their lockdown or drill process works from their perspective. Get a picture of their experience.
WHAT TO DO AFTER IT HAPPENS
· Seek Help from school staff or mental health professionals if needed - you know your child best.
· Call the Crisis Clinic at (360) 586-2800.
WHAT TO DO DURING AN EMERGENCY
· STAY BY YOUR PHONE/email/text and our social media/website. We will update immediately when we have accurate information. Rely on us to get you the most accurate information—we are in constant contact with first responders during a crisis.
· DO NOT GO TO THE SCHOOL until directed. These situations are filled with first responders, administrators, and our reunification team working through their carefully planned response steps. Trust the process.
· DO NOT CALL YOUR CHILD’S MOBILE DEVICE. Depending on the incident, a ringing or vibrating phone is a safety hazard.
· We will contact you with clear instructions on REUNIFICATION or other details. Be ready to act on these instructions. Have your keys and ID ready to go.
