Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI)
What is the Purpose?
Rochester Public Schools is committed to providing high quality instruction and interventions that fit the needs of all students. A researched based framework (MTSS/RTI) will ensure that the conditions of learning are optimal for every student. This framework incorporates intervention (‘help”) as a natural, ongoing part of education that doesn’t wait until the student is struggling.
What are “Tiers”?
Tier 1 is often referred to as “core instruction”. This is high quality academic support through general education.
Tier 2 is targeted, supplemental intervention in addition to and aligned with general education, as needed.
Tier 3 is intensive, individualized interventions in addition to and aligned with general education as needed.
