Rochester School District's bus service to students is provided by Petermann. Questions about student bus transportation should be directed to the Petermann office (273-5055), the School District Superintendent's office (273-5536), or any one of the school offices.

Our goal is your child's safe ride to and from school every day. The majority of our students ride buses to school each day. Bus transportation is available to students who live one or more miles from school. Exceptions are made for students living in hazardous traffic areas.

Bus transportation is contracted with Petermann. Each year drivers must complete classroom training sessions and pass an annual road test. Buses are safety checked daily and receive periodic thorough inspections from the Washington State Patrol. When roads are covered with ice or snow, buses are sometimes delayed and may follow emergency routes.

Parents do have the right to decide when their children should be kept at home, based on hazardous conditions in their immediate area. In such cases, absences will be listed as excused.

Changes in bus schedules, school closures, or early dismissals due to snow, ice, or other emergencies will be broadcast over local radio stations beginning at 6:00 am and continuing at frequent intervals.

If school closes early due to bad weather or other emergencies, students should know where their parents want them to go if no one is home. Also, if a student becomes ill or injured, it is important that the school office know how to contact parents during the school day. Parents are asked to keep the school offices current on home and work telephone numbers.
