GED Requirements

All students requesting permission to take the GED at Maple Lane High School must comply with the following criteria and procedures:

1. All candidates must complete the first part of the Maple Lane High School GED application form, including a recommendation from his counselor. The candidate's social security number, birthdate, and tentative release date must be included, candidates must be 16 years of age prior to taking the GED.

2. All candidates must be pretested to provide documented proof of the ability to be successful on the actual exam.

3. A school administrator must approve the candidate to take the final GED exam.

4. The test date is scheduled by a school administrator, student, and the student's counselor. Normally testing is done once a month, unless the candidate is leaving sooner.

5. A two to three month lead time is needed to meet all requirements to successfully obtain the GED.
